Animation 1 – Prison Break

October 27, 2010

I took the animation part of the Making and Meaning module. I enjoyed the process of animation but more due to the challenge than because I am keen to become an animator. Saying that, the narrative aspect of animation is a draw in the same way I have an interest in making films. It’s not the technical side of things that gives me a buzz but the story telling. Writing a story and then controlling the creation of the film of that tells that story is very fulfilling. This first animation followed a brief to make an animation with a number of restrictions, the main one being that the central characters would be simple shapes – circle, square or triangle. We were to attempt to make the audience feel sorry for the shape.

I would show the finished animation but I produced in Flash and for some reason the quality of the .mov file exported is so poor it’s not worth uploading.
