War Art

November 10, 2010

As part of a couple of interconnected modules I have been drawing some pictures based on photographs from my collection of photos taken during my time in the army. I have a major interest in war art, particularly front line work. I have been working on a literature review reading a number of books about the subject. Of special interest in the self generated reading list is Ronald Searle’s book To the Kwai and Back (I cannot express what an important publication this is that every one who gets the chance should take a look at) and Wales at War, Critical Essays on Literature and Art edited by Tony Curtis (a collection of short essays on war artists and poets with a connection to Wales).

Below are some of the pictures I have drawn.
