Cardiff Illustration Degree Show – starts 8 June
I’ve spent the last couple of days, along with my fellow Illustration students, setting up our degree show. It’s set in some beautiful, if slightly run down, rooms on the first floor of the Morgan Arcade in Cardiff. We’ve spent the last few weeks cleaning and painting, positioning, framing, nailing, hanging and publicising the event which starts with a private viewing this evening. I am displaying a selection of the sketches I made whilst in Afghanistan along with ones I have produced more recently on the same theme and in preparation for the QDG’s Operation Diary. Included are two paintings, the one I posted previously of the vehicle patrol through Gareshk in Helmand and one I recently finished in acrylic. I’ll post it when I have a decent photograph but for now it’s hanging in the exhibition. I have also erected the ‘House of Cards’ I first exhibited in the Senedd Building in Cardiff Bay. Looking forward to getting the formal examination element out of the way later today and then enjoying the opening and the following exhibition that lasts all week.
Check out the website.
I have also been fortunate enough to be selected for the Summer Show Exhibition in Howard Garden Gallery – a further selection of drawings and paintings from Afghanistan are on display there. Details can be found on the School’s website.
