David Lloyd George – 150th anniversary of his birth

January 8, 2013

The 17th January 2013 is the 150th anniversary of the birth of David Lloyd George in 1863. Lloyd George is the last person in the Liberal tradition to be British Prime Minister and the only Welshman to hold the post. Lloyd George is best known as the highly energetic Prime Minister (1916–22) who guided the Empire through the First World War to victory over Germany and its allies.

I’ve been working with the Lloyd George Society, the Lloyd George Museum and the National Library of Wales putting together an exhibition at the Pierhead Building of the National Assembly for Wales in Cardiff Bay. It runs from the 16th January to the 31st January 2013.

Below is the latest Lloyd George portrait I have drawn specifically for the exhibition. It shows him around 1908 when he was 45 years old.
