Edge of Wales Solva Festival

August 22, 2015

Went to two performances during the first Edge of Wales Solva Festival last night.

First up was Boyd Clack and Kirsten Jones – sharing scenes from High Hopes, which they co-wrote for the BBC. Outstandingly funny sit-com which, for some bizarre reason, the BBC have never seen fit to put out on DVD. They spoke about their work, script writing together, as well as read some poetry and Boyd sang some songs. Very relaxed and informal. Very funny. Very entertaining. At times quite moving. Boyd is a force of nature. I brought a copy of Boyd’s autobiography – ‘Kisses Sweeter than Wine‘, as well as a CD – ‘Last Bus to Porthcawl’.

We also saw Meic Stevens, the Welsh Dylan. His performance was entrancing and his anecdotes enlightening and humorous.
